Sugar and Spice and all things nice, that is what little girls are made of...
But what are all things nice?
To me, they are all the little treasures in life, the beautiful junk as my mom would call it, the captured moments that turn into cherished memories...things from my childhood like matching outfits with my cousins and all the little things in the bottom of my mom's sewing box, the wonders that were in my grandma's pocket book. Those are the things I am made of and the things that inspire my creativity.
I make cards from found treasures - scraps of fabric from my mom's latest project (or a friend's mom's latest project), with ribbon and lace and pretty things that come on birthday packages, with maps and book pages and other things that tell stories that I love to hear.
I make whimsical hair tutus and matching "waist" tutus that inspire fluttery play and imaginative play reminiscent of my own youth.
And this creativity, too is part of what I am made of....
My mom makes bracelets from vintage buttons and beautiful rugs from ugly fabric.
I have aunts who sew and bake and make.
I have friends who quilt and weave and garden.
I am surround by women who are constantly whipping up something new and BEAUTIFUL.
(What a blessing, right!?)
And this blog is about that...me and the women I know who are creative.
I hope to share with you about that creative process, some of the things we make and why...
